When we walk through life without knowing where we came from or where we are going, it is like walking with blinders on.
Many people do this every day.
They go through the motions of life without understanding the more profound truths about their own existence. But there are key practices that transform your life from one of confusion to one of clear sight. This journey of change–these spiritual awakening stages–is not about doing many complicated things, but about following simple, clear directions from your Creator.
You do not have to be bright or prosperous to start.
You just have to be willing to look at yourself and the world in a new way.
The Holy Book Holds All the Answers
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. —2 Peter 1:20

The first of the key practices that transform is turning to the Holy Bible. The Bible is not just any book. It is a book written by forty different authors over many thousands of years.
Julius Mosley II guides readers through the transformative use of the Holy Book. It holds all the answers about who you are, where you came from, and what is expected of you. Without this book, you cannot honestly know the person who created you. To live life without reading or understanding this book is what the author calls “living life with blinders on”.
The Bible helps define the true nature of spiritual awakening by revealing the reality behind illusions and guiding believers through a transformative process. Reading and accepting the Bible as the true Word of God is the first essential step. It is the only way to get the proper and correct information you need to live without blinders.
Spiritual awakening is a journey that involves much more than a fleeting moment of insight—it is a real, ongoing process that can transform every aspect of your life. This path is often filled with excitement and wonder, but it can also bring up resistance and confusion as you begin to question old patterns and beliefs. The spiritual awakening process is unique for each individual, yet it always involves a deepening understanding of yourself and the world around you.
As you move forward on this path, guidance becomes invaluable.
Understanding Why We Are Lacking
To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life. —Genesis 3:17
The next of the core disciplines on the path to awakening is understanding the truth about yourself. The Holy Book tells us that man is a “triune being”—meaning you are composed of three parts: a body, a soul, and a spirit.
The Body
is the visible part of you, formed from the “dust of the ground”. It gives you the ability to relate to the world. The life of the body is in the blood, and when the blood stops flowing, you die. The Bible makes it clear that your body is a “cursed vessel” because of the disobedience of your first parents, Adam and Eve. The curse is still in effect today, which is why men must work hard (sweat of their brow) and why all humans grow old and die. God says, “For there is no respect of persons with God”. Thinking your vessel is superior to others is simply “living life with blinders on”.
The Soul
is the invisible, real person inside you. It houses your mind, will, and emotions, and is the part that instructs your body on what to do. The soul can see, cry, be tormented, and remember things even after death. This soul is the decision-making part of you, and it has also been cursed. This cursed soul is the source of all sin, like “racism, bigotry, hatred, deceit, jealousy, envy, pride, arrogance,” and other things unacceptable to God.
The Spirit
is the other invisible part of you, where your conscience, intuition, and worship reside. Because of the curse, your spirit struggles. While you still have a conscience to tell you right from wrong, your cursed nature makes you want to overrule it and do what you want. Your spirit has the ability to worship, but because it is cursed, you do not have the ability to connect with the true and living God. Instead, you will worship the god of this world, who is Satan. This can look like worshipping yourself, money, cars, celebrities, or achievements.
Understanding that you are the problem—living in a body, soul, and spirit that are all cursed—is a necessary, though difficult, step. No cursed thing can go to Heaven; only what is perfect, sinless, and holy can go.

Key Practices That Transform
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. —Hebrews 11:6
Knowing that you are cursed and cannot save yourself leads to the most important of the key practices that transform: having true faith in God. God has stated clearly that you must live by faith, not by what you see with your eyes. He is very clear: “without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God”. This is a habit of high performance in the spiritual life. This faith is not the same as just believing “hard enough” that something will happen. True faith does not only require effort; it also requires personal growth and inner empowerment, emphasizing that spiritual awakening and understanding require developing your own wisdom and tools for self-realization, along with trust in God’s promises. True faith must be put in a person who cannot lie, who is unchanging, and who never sleeps. There is only one person who fits this description: God Himself.
You must start by believing two things:
- God exists; and
- He rewards those who genuinely seek Him.
These steps are required for genuine spiritual transformation.
LIVING LIFE WITHOUT BLINDERS ON
If you are “living life with blinders on,” you may think that your sins do not matter. But the Bible teaches that sin separates you from God.
This is why God provided a solution. The spirit of man allows him to worship. But because our spirit is cursed, we worship the god of this world. To worship the true and living God, you must have the Spirit of God alive in you. This means you must be willing to give up your own ideas of what pleases God and agree with what God says in His Holy Book.
This is a mighty catalyst for change because it is the moment you stop trying to fix your cursed self and accept God’s perfect solution. God is providing the means for transformation through faith.
Do you want to continue to live life with blinders on, or do you want to start your journey as a new creature in Christ? Living Life With Blinders On, by Dr. Julius Mosley II, is a vital read for anyone seeking the truth of their existence and eternal destiny.
