There is a book that holds the most important list in the universe, but it is not a book found in a library. It’s not even something that you can look for; at least, not upon this mortal earth.
Because this book is a record kept by God, the Book of Life.
This is an eternal record that contains the names of every person who will live forever with God.
This idea is central to the message of Dr. Julius Mosley II in his book, Living Life with Blinders On, where he warns that ignorance of this eternal truth is like living with blinders on, unaware of our final destination and with a severe case of tunnel vision.
What is the Book of Life?
The Bible speaks of a final judgment that will inevitably come. On that day, there will be many books that will be opened.
Dr. Mosley explains, “The other books are called the books of death. These contain the names of every human being that has ever lived. Everyone whose name is in the ‘books’… will be judged from the ‘books’.”
But the Book of Life will be very different. You will know because it is also called the Lamb’s Book of Life, pointing to Jesus, the Lamb of God.
Your name being in this book means you have the assurance of eternal life with God in New Jerusalem, the Eternal City.
I saw all the dead people standing before God. There were great people and small people. The books were opened. Then another book was opened. It was the book of life. The dead people were judged by what they had done as it was written in the books. —Revelation 20:12

Two Families, Two Destinies
Dr. Mosley says we are all born as descendants of Adam, the first man who disobeyed God. Because of this, we inherit a cursed nature from him.
“We are living in bodies that have been cursed! …No good thing can come from a cursed body.”
Our names are, by nature, in the “books of death.”
We cannot earn our way into the Book of Life. Our own goodness is not enough. “All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God,” he reminds us, quoting Romans 3:23.
But God created a second human race, with Jesus Christ as the head.
To move from the family of Adam to the family of God, your name must be transferred to the Book of Life.
This is what it means to be saved: to have your name written in heaven.
How Does a Name Enter the Book of Life?
The work is entirely God’s, so there is no human way of reaching the pages of the Book.
Yet, Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, died on the cross, shedding His blood as the perfect payment for sin. He took the curse that Adam set upon us for us.
Dr. Mosley stresses that we must accept this gift.
We cannot add to it with our own works. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God not of works,” he quotes from Ephesians 2:8-9.
To receive this gift, a person must be “born again.” One must experience a spiritual birth, which can only happen when we believe in Jesus and confess Him as Lord.
Dr. Mosley gives a clear promise from scripture: “That if thou confess with thy mouth that Jesus is Lord, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9).
At that moment, God seals you with His Spirit and writes your name in the Book of Life.
This is the moment of true salvation.
The Final Judgment and the Book of Life
One day, everyone will face God and bear the full weight of their sins. This day that will come is the final judgment.
Dr. Mosley urges readers to understand that this is certain. “For it is appointed unto men once to die, but after that the judgement,” he quotes from Hebrews 9:27.
At this time of great judgment, all books of God will be opened; thus, people will be judged by their works if their name is only found in the books of death.
But for those whose names are found in the Book of Life, there is no judgment; there is only reward for how they lived for Christ.
The most serious warning is for those whose names are not in the book. “And whosoever was not found written in the ‘book of life’ was cast into the lake of fire.”
Dr. Mosley calls this the second death—an eternal separation from God. This is why the message is so urgent. Living a good life, going to church, or being religious does not write your name in the Book of Life.
Only faith in Jesus Christ does.
Finding Assurance in the Book of Life
How can you know if your name is written there?
Dr. Mosley points to 1 John 5:11: “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”
If you have the Son, you have life. Your name is in His Book.
After someone believes, their life begins to change. They become a “new creature” with a desire to follow God, to be baptized, and to join with other believers.
This is the natural result of a transferred name. While we can forget our salvation, God never forgets His children.
His record, the Book of Life, is permanent.

Don’t Live with Blinders On
Dr. Julius Mosley II wrote his book to help rip the blinders off. Many people live lives of goodness and righteousness, but are unaware of the final judgment that is to come.
They do not know about the Book of Life, thinking that their own morality is enough to reserve them a seat in heaven.
But God’s standard is perfection, and only Christ meets that standard.
To ignore this is to risk everything.
The most important question you will ever answer is: Is my name in the book of life? You will not find the answer by looking at your own goodness. You find it by looking to Jesus Christ and trusting in His finished work on the cross.
He is the only way your name can be recorded among the names written in heaven.
