They say that the only constant thing in life is change, and that cannot be denied. After all, life is a journey people go through that is full of twists and turns. Failures, rejections, you name it – are bound to come. The only way to combat how life is is to Power Through Your Fears.

Fear is what people feel when they are facing something that they know could potentially harm them, whether in an instant or in the long run. Feeling scared is perfectly normal especially when you are about to embark into the unknown. Christian stories of faith show people that with great faith, any challenges that may come a person’s way can be conquered with strength, perseverance, and immense trust over the Lord, especially when life in general begins to become more difficult than ever.

Roadblocks are in the way for a reason, and they are there to become both a lesson and a source of more strength for a person to hold as they journey through life. With lessons, people can become readier than ever as they unlock a life where they reach fulfillment, joy, and, most of all, their aspirations. You deserve to live the life that you deserve, a life where you can tackle any adversities that may come on the way toward your dreams. With that, the only way is to embrace and battle whatever and all fears that you hold on to in life. Here are ways you can fight fear:

Give yourself some time out.

It is a great challenge to be able to think clearly when you are feeling anxious or scared. If possible, give yourself some time out so that you can physically calm yourself down. Distance yourself from whatever it is that is making you upset. A good example would be giving yourself at the very least 15 minutes so that you can either walk around the block to get some fresh air or pour yourself a nice warm cup of coffee, take a long bath, do a breathing exercise, or watch your favorite comfort movie.

Remind yourself to breathe through moments of panic.

Are you feeling that your heartbeat is getting faster, or your palms are growing sweaty? As uncomfortable and upsetting as such an experience may be, do your best not to fight it. Feel what you truly feel because it is the only way for you to feel better over time. Put the palm of your hand on your stomach and breathe deeply and slowly as you can. The key to moments of panic is to get yourself used to coping with panic.

Face whatever it is that you fear.

Easier said than done, but constantly avoiding your fears will only make them worse. It is not necessary to go all the way right away, as this may only bring trauma and other problems in the long run. So, take that first step of getting rid of fears by gradually exposing yourself to what you fear so that you can still be in control while you work on overcoming your fear.

Remember: anxiety is not harmful.

Feelings of fear and anxiety are undeniably overwhelming, and some may even begin to panic more when they feel other signs of anxiety or fear, as it could mean a serious health problem. Such concerns can truly worsen a person’s fear or anxiety, which is why it is vital to keep in mind that the body’s response is normal, as human instinct is designed to protect us from any form of danger or harm. If you feel worried about your well-being, it is best to seek advice from a professional for your safety.

Challenge all those unhelpful thoughts inside your mind.

Whenever you experience being clouded by all those unhelpful thoughts of fear and doubt, you can try to fight it off by asking and showing yourself that there is nothing to be scared of.

Most of all, get rid of the mentality that you have to be excellent or perfect at all times. It is normal to struggle with thoughts that tell you, “You should have…” or “You must…” They are thoughts that every person goes through. Such thoughts can bring in more anxiety and fear in the long run, so remember to embrace the beauty and mess that is in life and be kinder to yourself!

Aside from that, it is best to find a source of strength in trying times. “Living Life With Blinders On Living Life As God Intended” is a book written by Dr. Julius Mosley II, where the author talks about how people in general are not focusing on the most important thing in life, which is to live under the guidance of the Lord, to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
