This National Wellness Month calls for a deep investigation of the significant ways to take care of oneself. Beyond a balanced diet and ample exercise, should there be a need to strengthen the soul and spirit? What reasons support this practice?

The Mind, Body, Soul Connection

When it comes to self-care, people typically focus on their physical well-being. They focus on improving their hygiene, eating clean, and working out to strengthen their bodies. However, what gets overlooked is that taking care of one’s well-being also entails the need to strengthen the soul and spirit on top of caring for the body.

When it comes to self-care, people typically focus on their physical well-being. They spend their resources improving their hygiene, eating clean, and working out to strengthen their bodies. However, what they most often miss is that there is also a need to work internally to effectively care for themselves.

Internally goes beyond eating clean for the body and saying affirmations for the mind.

Instead, this calls for the need to strengthen the soul and spirit on top of caring for the body.

Why is there a need to equally focus on these three aspects?

People are spirits possessing souls while living in bodies.

In his life after death book, author Julius Mosley II highlights how humanity is a triune being composed of a body, soul, and spirit. These are inseparable and interlinked, influencing one another such that when one suffers, the others follow suit. While evident benefits are mainly observed when one cares for the body, this doesn’t mean they can leave their soul and spirit out.

Hence, when it comes to caring for their well-being, there needs to be an equal focus and prioritization towards these.

Julius Mosley states that nobody else is holy but God himself. This, then, automatically makes people unholy, and because of their unholy nature, it’s unguaranteed that they’ll be welcomed in God’s kingdom.

This poses trouble and a frightening uncertainty for what lies ahead for people, especially after death. The only way to resolve this is by helping oneself improve. Because of their triune nature, people must strengthen the soul, spirit, and body equally.

How Does One Strengthen the Soul, Spirit, and Body?

Throughout the scriptures, God has encouraged people to care for themselves and strengthen the soul, spirit, and body. Popular and typical discussions about health commonly revolve around the physical aspect. However, good health should also include an abundant soul and spirit.

What shows the strength of one’s soul?

What should people invest to strengthen the soul, spirit, and body?

Seek and Prioritize What’s Important in Life

Life is brimming with countless beautiful things, so people can never run out of things to try, want, and do each day. However, too much of anything is always bad, and this also applies to one’s spiritual health. After all, with a lot of things to do, people can easily be disrupted, especially in their relationship with God. When constantly seeking foreign things, they fail to prioritize time with God.

This might make them physically happy and satisfied in their worldly lives, but it weakens their spirit and soul. Hence, people are encouraged to be intentional with their time to strengthen the soul.

They aren’t discouraged from exploring the world’s wonders. Instead, they are reminded to be more organized in their approach.

Approach Life Positively

There’s so much chaos in life. Challenges exist, and mistakes often hinder people from fully appreciating what goes on in their days, the blessings they’re receiving, and the happiness surrounding them. Hence, an effective way to strengthen the soul, spirit, and body is to consciously approach life with a more positive outlook.

Caring for one’s well-being ensures one is living and not merely surviving. There is a thin line separating living and surviving, and this is found in enjoyment. Spiritual health isn’t only achieved through religious practices. Instead, it can also be attained through fun.

When people enjoy themselves, they also appreciate the blessings God gave them. All of these strengthen the soul and bring out the best in everyone.

Spend Some Time Alone

Humans are social beings, but this doesn’t mean they can’t be alone sometimes. In a society where being alone can be associated with loneliness and sadness, people are encouraged to embrace solitude. While they need to socialize and form meaningful relationships, the most significant relationship they must build is the one within themselves.

To nurture this, it’s essential to spend some time alone.

To strengthen the soul, spirit, and body, people need to get used to feeling alone with their thoughts. They must embrace being themselves and by themselves without the need to distract themselves.

Alone time helps people understand and appreciate themselves more. This feeds their soul by recharging them and allowing them to enjoy their existence.

Engage in Self-Reflection

Alone time should be intentional. People can’t simply separate from the crowd and believe they’re already strengthening themselves. Instead, this time should be spent connecting deeper with oneself, evaluating one’s life, and planning the life one wants.

A deeper connection within the self is integral if one yearns to strengthen the soul. People must understand themselves more to provide for the missing pieces of their lives, which leads to more fulfillment in life. Our soul, spirit, and body are often neglected because of the ungodly way we live in this world. Thanks so much for this reminder.
