Love is righteousness, as it is understood as kindness. Likewise, God is just and merciful. As we try to comprehend God’s righteousness and God’s love, we are enlightened in pondering the profound attributes of His divine nature.

Although God is perfectly just and morally pure, He also possesses a heart of infinite compassion. In God’s loving grace, we are enveloped in a profound relationship founded by the unconditional love of a Father.

As we try to dig deeper into His just and loving nature, let’s take a glimpse of how He enforces righteousness among us. In the book, “Living Life with Blinders On: Living Life As God Intended” by Julius Mosley II, we see the veil opens. It reveals the just nature of our loving Father. As we live on, we are given choices to redeem ourselves from our inherent cursed nature since the time of Adam’s sin. Praise be to God our Father, for He has provided a redemption plan for us. Heed the good news of hope and a new nature that awaits and beckons us. Get a copy now from your trusted online bookstore.

Defining God’s Righteousness

God’s moral perfection, justice, and commitment to what is right surpass our understanding and own measurement of righteousness. The Bible speaks of His holiness and role in upholding justice.

“For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.”

Psalm 11:7

As sin is condemned through God’s righteousness, so is redemption offered through His just nature. God’s righteousness calls us to a life of justice and righteousness. Although His love for us is unconditional, His love for us is not blind to the truth and the depth of our sins. Like a loving Father, He also disciplines us to lead us to the right path. By giving us the chance to repent and correct our sinful ways, we understand God’s righteousness and God’s love.

God’s Absolute Love

Love, in the understanding of human nature, often depends on emotions or circumstances. But God’s absolute love is different. The love of God for us is unconditional, eternal, and selfless in nature. It is not based on our actions or worthiness. As such, this kind of love is often described in the Greek word agape

The Bible speaks of God’s profound love—so immense that He sacrificed His only begotten son to save our broken and sinful world.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

Even in the greatest of sins we commit, we are redeemed in God’s righteousness and God’s love through His mercy, grace, and forgiveness. God showers His grace upon us with unearned favor. In His mercy, we are withheld the punishment we deserve. And great is His forgiveness as He is willing to erase our sins. These elements comprise His love that holds the power to transform and restore. As He loves us, so shall we share the same love with others.

The Interplay Between God’s Righteousness and God’s Love

Because of our limited human perspective and comprehension, love and righteousness may seem like battling opposites. But God’s righteousness and God’s love work in perfect harmony. As a loving Father, His righteousness teaches us to do what is right and to be just. While He is a just judge, God is also a compassionate savior. His unconditional love graces us with unparalleled mercy and forgiveness.

This interplay of His just and merciful nature is further manifested through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Our sins call for justice because God’s righteousness does not turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. But despite that, His infinite love for us paved the way for our reconciliation with Him.

Let us immerse ourselves in His Word, and foster a deep and intentional connection with Him. The way to living in the light of His righteousness and love can be opened if we foster a closer relationship with Him. To do this, we must heed His Words from the scripture and reflect on them. Daily, we shall pray consistently to express our gratitude for His love so that we will be guided to the path of a righteous life.

We can embody His divine attributes in the way we interact with others. We can become the epitome of God’s righteousness by standing for truth and justice. Join the initiatives in reporting and correcting corrupt practices. But do not condemn those who have committed such sins. The way to embody His love for us is to offer forgiveness and compassion toward our fellows. Beginning the journey is always the hardest. But with our faith community, we can build a lasting foothold in our understanding and practice of these truths.
